I Wanna Be A Boy Scout
You know the famous motto… BE PREPARED. I’m finding out that I’m *much* more successful with staying on track when I’m prepared. Things like, making sure I always have healthy stuff to eat, making sure my pups pick up all their toys that litter my exercise area (in front of the t.v.), logging my food and exercise, etc.
When I stay one step ahead of my “diet”, I do better. I don’t cheat. What I’ve been doing is getting tomorrow’s meals ready in the evenings. Tonight, after I did my 2 miles with Leslie, I fixed the coffee pot, washed my to-go cup, unpacked my lunch bag, washed all the dishes, put my ice pack thingie in the freezer to re-freeze, picked out which lean cuisine I’m gonna have, poured the milk for my cereal in it’s container (I take it to work), got my yogurt and my apples in the fridge next to my milk, got the lunch bag opened up and set out on the kitchen counter and got my vitamins all together and put in the lunch bag. So, see? I’m all ready for tomorrow. It makes me feel better and makes me less stressed in the mornings when I’m usually rushing to get out the door. Do I earn a badge?
So, been emailing one of my buddies about my food journal and I’m hoping she’ll have some suggestions for me. I seem to eat more than 50% carbs every day. Today, after I logged all my food, carbs came out to 61%!!!!!!!!! Definitely need to reduce those. I tried Atkins once for 8 months. Only lost 19lbs, so the anti-carb movement didn’t work for me. But I DO see that I need more protein. I’m gonna work on that.
Tigger and Corey still haven’t picked up their toys for tonight, so I guess I’ll go do that. Need to figure out how to get them to clean up and put everything back in their toy box. They had a really funny running fit around the back yard a few mins ago. Tigger looks like a little gazelle when she runs and leaps… cracks me up! She’s the epitome of grace! Corey will chase her for a couple of laps, but his excitement gets the better of him and he just has to go DIG. So mama (that’s me) has to yell “Corey!!!!! No! BAD!” He doesn’t like “BAD”. He hangs his wee little head and gives me that “surely you don’t mean it, Mama? I mean, I was just scratching the dirt here a little. See? It’s only 18 inches deep.” So when he gives me that look, I have to hug him and tell him that even though he’s so adorable, he should really stop digging in the yard. Makes it hard to mow.

Y’all have a great evening and a WONDERFUL Wednesday!!! XOxoxoxoxoxoxoxo………..

Lena,
This is so funny about your dogs. They understand! And still they try to push your buttons because they know you love them.
Thanks for the reminder to be prepared. Planning is the key, it give me control.
Have a great evening,
Tatiana
Hey Lena~
Sounds like you have the day planned out for you tomarrow and should start out good… Ya know sometimes when I think I am havin to many carbs I know this sounds yucky cause I thought it did when my nutrionist told me but I will have pinto beans for breakfast the fiber and protein seems to hold me over better in the am. What Walking DVD do you do of Leslies? I have a few of them myself…
Have a good week

Denise
*BIG SMILE*
I had so much FUN reading this blog!
You DEFINATELY get a badge for preparation! I’m a big advocate of being prepared when it comes to food for the day. I do mine early in the mornings though. I just seem to have more brain power early in the mornings. LOL When I get low on groceries I start to panick because then I can’t get prepared like I want to. YIKES!
Tigger and Corey are ADORABLE and they need to meet Rosie and Scooter at my house. Rosie, although a mutt, looks a lot like Tigger and she loves to chase squirrels and can leap over tall buildings in a single bound. Scooter is our resident lizard and frog hunting dog. She has to be shooed out of my front flower beds when a frog goes hopping in there. Our two big dogs are the armadillo dogs. Talk about digging a hole! Well, the armadillo starts out in a hole and Baby just digs it bigger and deeper until she can get it outta there. It’s dangerous in the autumn when the forest floor is covered in leaves. You could disappear in a single step! LOL
More protein Lena, absolutely! Make sure the carbs you do get are good ones, k? I try for 40/40/20 protein/complex carbs only/and good fats only.
You GO girlfriend. I’m SOOOOOOOOOOO proud of you!!!!!!
Hugggggggggggggggggggs,
Shan
WOW Kudos for they preparation you are doing, that is awesome. I feel out of control when no meals are planned and I don’t know what I am eating for the day. With the carbs, remember there are good carbs too, so if you find you are eating too many, just try to switch them to a whole grain alternative, thats what I do so I can still enjoy them but then I don’t go crazy with them like I do with white flour carbs. Or also sometimes I just cut out carbs for 1 meal, like just a salad for lunch or the lean cuisine without carbs with a salad for lunch, then I do better. Your planning is so great!!!

congratulations on your preplanning it sounds like you’re setting yourself up for success… you wouldnt build a house with out a blue print would you!?
I LOVE YOUR PUP stories. You are such a good Mom. Animals are the best.
You are doing fantastic Lena (EVERY time I go to type your name I type “Lean” first.) With your habits in the kitchen and your choices you are getting a little bit closer every week. I am so proud of you. It is those little things that will get you to goal and help you to maintain. Love the lifestyle changes. Jo does the same things with her preparation and it is so helpful.
Cheers Lena…. You are really doing so well.
I wish you would blog more often, I really enjoyed your blog A LOT!! I am a dog-lover myself, so I truly had a great time reading about your babies!!
Now….on the preparation front…I totally agree with you wholeheartedly…I find that when I prepare, I tend to be more successful. I shall strive for preparation!!
